DESCRIPTION:Join Park Naturalist Hulya Onel to learn all about birds\, herps\, plants\, mammals\, insects\, and ecology. We study a different biology subject every other month throughout the year. Once you complete all six workshops\, you will receive a certificate\, a field guide of your interest and you will get to keep the course book prepared by the Park Naturalist. Once you are a Certified Junior Naturalist of WBJMNP\, you will also be eligible to join Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park Junior Naturalists Club!The mission of the Junior Naturalists Program is to foster an understanding and appreciation of Northwest Louisiana’s plants\, water\, soil\, and wildlife\, and to promote good stewardship. This program will be ongoing\, and the missing classes can be made up when they are offered again. This workshop is designed for ages 7 to 12. DESCRIPTION:Art in the Park is an annual celebration of art and nature featuring local artists from the Caddo Parish and surrounding areas\, live music\, art activities\, and more!\n\nSHREVEPORT\, LA-Art in the Park\, an annual celebration of art and nature\, is growing this year adding more artists\, vendors\, and activities. Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the event at Richard Fleming Park on Saturday\, November 8 from noon to 4:00pm. Visitors are invited to enjoy art\, music\, and food in a beautiful autumn forest.\nArt in the Park features more than 50 local and regional artists who find inspiration in nature and either depict nature in their work or use natural materials as their medium. Visitors will find a wide variety of art for sale from paintings and photography to stone tools and pottery. Artists provide live demonstrations throughout the event in flintknapping\, pottery throwing\, pine-needle basket weaving\, painting\, needle-felting\, and more.\n\nSeveral local arts and nature organizations including Shreve Memorial Library\, Sciport Discovery Center\, Shreveport Aquarium\, La La La Sing\, Volunteer Naturalists of Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park\, Red River National Wildlife Refuge and Shreveport Regional Arts Council will lead hands-on art activities for all ages. Park Naturalist Hulya Onel will lead her popular painting workshops for older youth and adults.\nLive entertainment will include Twang Darkly\, from noon to 1:30pm\, followed by Peregrine (formerly Benedetto) from 1:30pm-2:30pm\, and then QMajor with Native to the Parish from 2:30pm – 4:00pm.\n\nThe Hot Dawg Hut\, Oki Eatz\, Critter’s Corral\, and Sneaux Mobile Express will sell refreshments.\n\nAdmission and all activities are free.\nThe event address is 7919 West Lakeshore Drive\, Shreveport\, LA 71107.
