Wild Child Summer Camp

Do you have a wild child? Does your kid love spending time outside?

Then Wild Child Summer Camp is the place for them!

Wild Child Summer Camp is designed for kids ages 8-12 who love nature and want to increase knowledge and awareness of the natural world.

Each week will include lots of time outdoors, hands-on educational activities, hiking, arts & crafts, and games.

CAMP INFORMATION: 

  • Camp hours are 8:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
  • No early or late care is available.
  • Field trip transportation is provided to and from camp and field trips via Caddo Parish School Board bus and daily drop-off/pick-up location is noted in the camp descriptions. 
  • Space is limited to 18 campers per week.
  • Children must turn 8 by camp start date, no exceptions.
  • Lunch and snacks are provided.
  • Cost is $150 per child, per week.

CAMP DESCRIPTIONS:

Outdoor Skills Camp

Drop-off/ pick-up at Red River National Wildlife Refuge, 150 Eagle Bend Point, Bossier City, LA 71112

  • Week 1- June 3-7, 2024 
  • Week 2- June 10-14, 2024 

This camp is for active explorers! Kids will be introduced to canoeing, archery, and fishing along with other skills that can be used for years to come in enjoying outdoor recreation.

Field trip locations will include hiking at Eddie D. Jones Park, fishing at the Drift Inn on Caddo Lake, canoeing at Richard Fleming Park, and more!

Junior Naturalist Camp 

Drop-off/ pick-up at Red River National Wildlife Refuge, 150 Eagle Bend Point, Bossier City, LA 71112

  • Week 3- June 17-21, 2024 
  • Week 4- June 24-28, 2024 

Calling all nature-enthusiasts! Kids will explore near-by natural areas to learn about native flora and fauna through hikes, collection, observation, and other hands-on experiences. Topics to include edible/poisonous plants, aquatic ecosystem exploration, native reptile identification, birding, and lots more!

Field trip locations will include a boat tour from Caddo Lake State Park, hiking in Kisatchie National Forest, fishing at the Drift Inn on Caddo Lake, and more!

Nature of Art Camp

Drop-off/ pick-up at J. Bennett Johnston Waterway Regional Visitor Center, 700 Clyde Fant Pkwy Shreveport, LA 71101

  • Week 5- July 8-12, 2024 
  • Week 6- July 15-19, 2024 

This camp uses art to explore nature. Kids will experiment with several creative mediums including photography, fairy-house building, watercolor, journaling, and lots more as ways to observe, appreciate, and increase knowledge of the natural world.

Field trip locations will include hiking at Red River National Wildlife Refuge, building fairy houses at Eddie D. Jones Park, and more!

REGISTRATION/PAYMENT:

Registration opens at 12noon on Monday, March 18, 2024.

Payment must be made within 5 business days of registration. If payment is not received, the spot will be available to other campers.

Parents/Guardians will receive a camp letter via email prior to the start of camp with detailed schedules, field trip locations, daily lunch menu, and other information.
