Our Mission:

The Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing quality facilities, recreational programs, and other leisure time activities for the enjoyment, health, and benefit of the residents of Caddo Parish. In carrying out this responsibility, the department provides clean, safe park facilities throughout the Parish and a variety of recreational programs to ensure a positive experience for all our visitors.

To enhance and improve the quality of life of all residents and visitors of Caddo Parish. The Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department will provide excellent customer service through well maintained facilities and highly trained and motivated staff. The programs and services offered will always reflect the wants and needs of our community.

The Parish of Caddo Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for providing quality of life/leisure services to Caddo Parish citizens and visitors. The department maintains 16 sites throughout the Parish that include boat launches, ball fields, RV campground, multi-use trails, playgrounds and a nature center featuring a staffed visitor center with exhibits and live animals.

The department also offers a wide variety of programming, including educational nature programs, athletics, health & wellness activities, festivals and special events, outdoor recreation, and assists local municipalities with festival, events, and park development.

You'll dig Archaeology Day, so make plans to attend the 6th annual event at the The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum on Saturday, September 18 from 10:00am-2:00pm.
Lots to do for both kids and adults.
Learn how pottery was made thousands of years ago and what it's like to work in an archaeology lab. Bring your artifacts for identification and hear about the latest news and research from local and state archaeologists. Naturalists from Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park will there with some fun activities too!

Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park's Bugs, Bats, & Bones will be “deconstructed” this year due to Covid-19 precautions. You will find all your favorite Bugs, Bats, & Bones activities offered throughout the month of October. Whether you want to encounter a live vulture, cuddle a snake, or venture out into the deep, dark forest to explore nature at night, we’ve got a great line-up of programs to creep the whole family out all month long!

Art in the Park is an annual nature and wildlife art show and sale featuring all local artists from the Shreveport-Bossier area.
The event features a wide variety of nature-inspired art for sale, from paintings and photography to stone tools and woodcarvings, all from local artists. Mini art workshops, artist demonstrations, hands-on art activities, live music, and food vendors are also planned.
Amateur and professional artists whose work features wildlife or nature or uses natural materials as their medium will be considered. If you would like to be considered as a featured artist, please submit the application found at caddoparks.org/event/art-in-the-park/. Spaces are free of charge but limited. The cooler weather this morning makes us want to hit the trails and Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville has plenty of them. Over 20 miles throughout 800+ acres for hiking, biking, and horseback riding are accessible dawn to dusk year round.

We hosted a surprise pizza party for Queensborough Leadership Academy students, in recognition of principal Marco French being named 2022 Louisiana State Principal of the Year. Congratulations Principal French! Pizzas and drinks were provided by @teamnkh_
