CADDO PARISH TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF WALTER B. JACOBS NATURE CENTER
Caddo Parish, LA — The public is invited to celebrate a remarkable milestone as the Walter B. Jacobs Nature Center marks its 50th anniversary on Saturday, May 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In honor of five decades of service to Caddo Parish, admission to the Nature Center will be free for all guests during this special event. Families, nature enthusiasts, and community members are encouraged to come out and enjoy a day filled with food trucks, crafts, live music, and more, all set against the backdrop of one of Caddo Parish’s most treasured natural spaces.
Since its establishment, Walter B. Jacobs Nature Center has served as a cornerstone of environmental education and outdoor recreation in Caddo Parish. Generations of residents and visitors have explored its scenic trails, encountered native wildlife, and participated in hands-on learning experiences that foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world. The Nature Center has not only preserved a vital piece of the parish’s landscape, but has also inspired a lasting commitment to conservation and stewardship across the community.
The 50th anniversary celebration also honors the legacy of the Jacobs family, whose generous donation made the creation of the Nature Center possible. Their vision helped establish a place where education, conservation, and community come together—an impact that continues to be felt today.

Guests attending the celebration will have the opportunity to explore the Nature Center’s grounds, reflect on its history, and take part in activities that highlight its mission and impact over the past five decades.
