The Parish of Caddo Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for providing quality of life/leisure services to Caddo Parish citizens and visitors. The department maintains 16 sites throughout the Parish that include boat launches, ball fields, RV campground, multi-use trails, playgrounds and a nature center featuring a staffed visitor center with exhibits and live animals.

Hulya brought an alligator to my son's class last year and it was a fantastic presentation.

Ok but what if I as an adult want to someone to bring animals and teach me about them lol Awesome that yall do this!

Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Shreveport-SPAR are two different park systems. Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for providing quality of life/leisure services to "all" Caddo Parish citizens. The department is also nationally accredited through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Association; and maintains 14 parks throughout Caddo Parish that includes: 1,100 acres of parkland, 28.1 miles of multi-use trails, 10 playgrounds, 6 boat launch ramps, 5 outdoor basketball courts, 3 athletic fields, 1 RV campground, and a nature and event center (currently under construction).

The Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department has invested a total of $1,322,025.00 in park capital improvement funds to install new LED lighting across several Caddo Parish parks. According to case studies by the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), enhanced lighting in public parks improves safety and creates a more positive experience for park visitors.

Below are the LED lighting improvement projects that have been completed—or will be completed—by the end of 2024:
