Mission:

The Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park is dedicated to helping the citizens of Northwest Louisiana connect with nature by conserving a pine-oak-hickory forest for interpretation and recreation.

Vision:

The Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park is the recognized center for outdoor interpretation in northwestern Louisiana.

Located three miles west of Blanchard, the 160-acre nature park contains a pine-oak-hickory forest accessible by five miles of nature trails. The park has an interpretive building, a rentable pavilion with restrooms, a handicapped-accessible trail, and several naturalists who provide information and interpretation to park visitors. Nature oriented programs are available on an appointment basis.

Programs and Activities:

Park Naturalists offer a wide variety of programs, field trips camps, annual events, and more. Check the Nature Education page for more information and to see upcoming events.

PARISH OF CADDO RECEIVES KEEP LOUISIANA BEAUTIFUL GRANT TO PREVENT LITTER IN PARISH

CADDO PARISH ,LA– The Parish of Caddo has been selected as one of 60 recipients of the 2024-25 Keep Louisiana Beautiful Trash Receptacle Grant Program.  This award is made possible with funding from the State of Louisiana and Office of the Lieutenant Governor.   Through the Trash Receptacle Grant Program, Keep Louisiana Beautiful has awarded 285 receptacles to 60 organizations in 37 parishes.

“Litter continues to be a problem across our entire parish,” said Parish Administrator and CEO Erica R. Bryant.  “Thanks to Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the trash receptacles will help reduce litter and keep our community clean and beautiful,” said Bryant.

As part of grant requirements, Caddo Parish will perform a post installation litter scan and compare the data collected to preliminary scan results. Data will be shared with the public once available. 

Receptacles will be placed in the following Parish park locations:

Earl G. Williamson Park, 11425 LA Hwy. 1, Oil City, LA 71061 
P.B.S Pinchback Park,7903 Jefferson Paige Rd, Shreveport, LA 71119 
Eddie D. Jones Park, 7990 Caddo Dr, Spring Ridge, LA 71047 

“Recent data collected by Keep Louisiana Beautiful shows a reduction of litter by 78 percent in areas where trash receptacles are properly installed and maintained,” said KLB Executive Director Susan Russell. “One of our organization’s key initiatives is to help build infrastructure that supports clean, beautiful communities. Funding trash receptacles is one way we do that.Congratulations to the Parish of Caddo for being selected as a 2024-25 Trash Receptacle Grant recipient,” said Russell.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), is a state program under the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism that promotes a personal, corporate, and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful Louisiana. KLB supports local communities through programs and resources for litter education,prevention, removal, enforcement, beautification, recycling, waste reduction,and sustainability initiatives. KLB is affiliated with the national organization, Keep America Beautiful, and is supported by a robust statewide network of Community Affiliates and University Affiliates.
