SHREVEPORT, LA-Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department will host the 18th annual Owl Night event at Walter B Jacobs Memorial Nature Park on Saturday, February 11 from 5:00pm-9:00pm.  Visitors will encounter live owls and find a variety of activities that explore how owls are adapted to their night world.

Visitors will meet the four species of owls that live and nest here in Northwest Louisiana as they walk the quarter-mile, paved Audubon Trail.  Trained Volunteer Naturalists will be with the owls to answer questions and provide information about what makes each species unique.

Owl Night will feature classroom presentations from Mr. John Dillon, Past-President of Louisiana Ornithological Society, and Ms. Christie Chapman with WERLA (Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation in Louisiana). Both will speak about their professional work with owls. Librarians from Shreve Memorial Library will offer owl-themed storytimes in the visitor center for younger visitors.

The Louisiana Society of Animal Artists and other local artists will be at Owl Night showing and selling their favorite pieces featuring owls. And visitors of all ages can make their own owl-inspired artwork in the Arts and Crafts area.

Art, games, crafts, and lots more at Owl Night!

Visitors can also enjoy games, exploring the food chain exhibit, and going on a flashlight-free guided night hike, and more at Owl Night!

The Hot Dawg Hut, Critter’s Corral, and Keto Cravings Snack Prep will be on site selling refreshments. After dinner enjoy a complementary make-your-own s’more by the fire.

There is very limited parking on site.  Visitors are encouraged to park at nearby Richard Fleming Park for continuous shuttle service to and from Owl Night from 5pm-10pm.
