The Caddo Parish Commission officially proclaims July as Parks and Recreation Month!
Since 1985, people in the United States have celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote building strong, vibrant and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation and to recognize the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals — along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers — that maintain our country’s local, state and community parks. In 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives designated July as National Park and Recreation Month in recognition of “the great societal value of parks and recreation facilities and their importance in local communities across the United States.” Since then, the Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department is one of the hundreds of park and recreation agencies across the country celebrate with their communities during Park and Recreation Month each year.
This July, Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation is celebrating with the theme We Rise Up for Parks and Recreation. All month long, we’ll be highlighting the ways our community is stronger, more vibrant and more resilient because of parks and recreation.
